SECONDARY
The year 10 fast track students had an interesting activity to understand the nuances of language analysis. Through a modified version of dodge ball during the lesson, the students were able to learn the same in a relaxed yet spirited atmosphere. A few glimpses of that lesson.
RESEARCH METHODS/ USE OF ICT
Students are challenged with the task of researching on the
archaeology of different countries such as China, Greece, Iran, Mexico,
Bulgaria, Sudan and Egypt. They are encouraged to use methods such as the
internet as well as reference books from the library. Fruitful discussions were also generated on

WEEKLY WORD WALL
WEEKLY WORD WALL is a new initiative by the year 5's. As the name implies, this is a working wall and is conducted every week. Here the students are introduced to a level 5 and level 6 word every week. The teacher discusses the meaning of the word and in what context it could be used. Then the students are given challenge tasks based on the word introduced and a house point is also awarded as token of appreciation to those who complete the task successfully. It is encouraging to see students use these words in their writing pieces and their conversations.

Learning to Debate... Debating to Learn
One of the academic endeavours and aims of the grade 9 students is to better their articulation, critical thinking and debating skills. What better activity than conducting a Debate – a merging of all three skills…….and when you have a class full of highly opinionated and articulate boys who are bursting with ideas, views and opinions…..you know it’s going to be a high on decibel and drama class.
The motion – “Video games have done more bad than good to the society as a whole” set the mood for an argumentative, entertaining and highly educational session. The teacher took a backseat while students conducted the class proceedings, formed the speakers, audience and even the judges. The manner in which the class proceeded in an orderly fashion with no untoward incidents was highly commendable. Students who formed the judging panel also created a judging criteria to evaluate and assess their peers. Here are some pictures from the session. Some of our highly articulate speakers. |
